Giftgiving and Treeplanting: Relived A Childhood Ideal

To become an Ambassadress of Goodwill has been my dream since I was nine. Not only that I wanted to play a major role in saving humankind and Mother Earth but also, I found the title cooler than Ms. Universe. But as days became months and months became years and years became decades, that big dream of saving Amazon and feeding those starving children in Africa (especially the Ambassadress dream) has gone blurry and then next to impossible.

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran, JCI Bohol, and the Bohol Bloggers Collective for initiating a Feeding and Giftgiving Program for Children as well as a treeplanting activity in Brgy. Macaas, Tubigon, Bohol. The feeding and giftgiving program held in Camp Katapatan last November 20 has relived my childhood ideal. Seeing those kids’ eyes glow in excitement as they engaged in games has turned my dream into reality.

The treeplanting activity has also turned out to be far beyond my expectation. I thought that getting my hands dirty under the sun would be tiring and boring but doing it with friends had turned the task into a fun-filled outdoor leisure. Plus, the chitchats with them and some newfound friends had made the world a much better place to live in.

Now that I am wiser, I come to understand that I don’t need to have that Ambassadress of Goodwill title to be able to help. And I don’t need to be in Amazon or Africa to make a difference. I just need to look around and have a heart that cares, a hand that helps, an eye that seeks opportunities to help, and a community that shares the same vision. Then, everywhere will be a right place and everytime will be a right time to be an advocate for humankind and a protector of Mother Earth.

Say something. Leave a trail.
